Many airlines have blocked Boeing 737 Max 8 planes due to the latest deadly Ethiopian airlines crash. The crash took place few minutes after it took off. Happened on Sunday, leaving 157 people killed on board. During the five months, it was a second disaster that involved Boeing 737 Max 8.
The aviation regulators in Indonesia and China have put off the flights of the similar model. Comair, Ethiopian Airlines, and Cayman Airways have also deferred their 737 Max 8 airplanes. Boeing shares dropped by 13% in the initial trading on Wall Street, but some of the losses were recovered.
It hasn’t been clear what caused such a disaster but it is said that it is the same model that crashed in a flight run by Lion Air in the month of October. The jet lost height soon after taking off leaving 189 people killed on board.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China said in a statement, “Given that two accidents both involved newly delivered Boeing 737 Max 8 planes and happened during take-off phase, they have some degree of similarity.” The aviation regulators of China ordered the local carriers to suspend 737 Max 8 flights by the local time of 18:00 (10:00 GMT). The carriers that got impacted by this were Kunming Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Air China, and China Eastern Airlines. In mainland China, more than 90 of the similar jets are in use.
