Great Gains in Test Scores by the Students of Lebron’s School
Lebron James is a professional player of basketball. He opened a school in Akron. According to him, he feels unbelievably proud for the stats that are showing that the students of his promised school in Akron, just an year after it opened, are making enormous and fantastic gains in statewide testing. In the beginning, the school only contained 240 students in 3rd and 4th grade but due to the test scores of maths and the reading skills of students shown by NY times, increased the number of students in Akron school within a year. Initially 3rd and 4th grade scored only 1% in reading which was a lowest percentile and gave a bad impression. But, after one year not only 3rd grade students directly moved to the 9th percentile but 4th grade students also improved to 16th percentile. It was just because of the students who took district wide exams. It was not their only improvement but they also made quite big improvements in maths too. 3rd graders who scored 1% year before, scored 18th percentile and 4th graders jumped from 2% to the 30th.
When it was asked by Lebron that how such an incredible improvements were made, he told in NY times, “These kids are doing an unbelievable job, better than we all expected.”He also told the Times that when he opened the school, everybody knew that it is for the kids but now they will understand that what is going on behind the doors of school and they will also accept the lack of education they had before coming to school. So, behind the doors, not only education is provided by the school, but clothing and snacks are also given to the needy families by the school which is partially funded by the Lebron’s foundation.
