Siraj Ibn Wahhaj who is 39 years old, was alleged by prosecutors of training 11 children to perform school shootings in a New Mexico compound. Surprisingly, this was happening with consent of their mothers. The 11 children found were malnourished, poorly dressed, living in an extremely unhygienic condition.
Siraj Ibn Wahhaj has appeared in the court on Wednesday and has been held without a bail. Siraj Ibn Wahhaj is the son of an Imam who is also named Siraj Wahhaj. The New York Post has reported that Siraj Ibn Wahhaj’s father has been accused by prosecutors of being an unindicted co-conspirator in the World Trade Center bombing that took place in the year 1993.
The compound was raided by the authorities on Friday, when it had been a month in search of a disappeared boy named Abdul-ghani Wahhaj. Abdul-ghani Wahhaj had been suffering severe medical issues after which he went missing from Georgia in the month of December.
Remains of a child were found by the authorities on Monday, but they decided to stay positive and did not confirm the remains as Abdul-ghani Wahhaj’s and kept the search going on.
Lucas Morton, Jany Leveille who is 35 years old, Hujrah Wahhaj 38 years old, and Subhannah Wahhaj 35 years old, are the mothers of the 11 year old malnourished children found at the New Mexico compound. They were arrested on the property on Friday and all are facing child abuse charges.
The compound that was situated near the Colorado border was heavily secured by tires, wooden pallets, and other debris. When the authorities raided the compound, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj was “heavily armed with an AR15 rifle, five loaded 30 round magazines, and four loaded pistols, including one in his pocket when he was taken down,” as reported by the Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe.
The sheriff described the situation of the 1 to 15 aged children by saying that they, “looked like third world country refugees not only with no food or fresh water, but with no shoes, personal hygiene and basically dirty rags for clothing.”
The investigators could only see some potatoes and a box of rice when they searched for food. The investigators described it as “the ugliest looking, filthiest”.
Hogrefe believes they were “most likely heavily armed and considered extremist of the Muslim belief.”
