Gunman shot dead by armed dad in Alabama McDonalds, two injured
An armed dad in Alabama McDonalds did something very brave and stopped what might have been a very unfortunate event. He shot down a gunman with his pistol, who entered the food chain and opened fire.
The father who did this brave act is left unidentified, and he was leaving the building with his son when a masked individuals walked into the food restaurant and opened fire. The WBRC TV reported that the dad was brave enough to respond with his gun, taking out the masked gunman and bringing an end to shootout. In the event, the father and one of his teenage sons were the two people who suffered from injuries as they were struck too.
The gunman died later due to his injuries and is yet to be identified. As for the shots taken by father and son, they aren’t considered life threatening.
A worker of McDonald, Markus Washington, talked to WBRC TV stating that he was out there on the job making two quarter pounders as the bullets started to fly around. So, he ran into a freezer and hid there, hearing about 15 gunshots being fired. He said that he was grateful, throughout the event with himself in freezer, it all felt like a nightmare.
The fear only grew with the time as shootout was going on outside, making him think that individuals around in the restaurant are dead and the shooter is now looking for him. However, praise to the customer who was there, armed and brave enough to take the fight back to the gunman.
Hero of Washington Killed by Armed Dad
Washington referred to the man as a hero, a person who saved the life of many people.
As for the authorities, the things aren’t very clear as they are investigating into the matter. The question remains that whether the gunman came to rob the restaurant, target an employee or civilian, or had planned something even worse.
Sgt. Bryan Shelton, who is the spokesman for Birmingham police, said that “Things like this are difficult for both families. The gentleman who unfortunately lost his life, the teenage boy who is in the hospital recovering from his injuries and the father who is also recovering from his injuries.” He further added “It’s not easy being a father and watching your child get injured, get hurt like that. It’s a really heartwrenching experience.”
