Approval Of The Grant By Obama Administration To Group With Al-Qaeda
This week it has been exposed by a conservative think tank that even though Al-Qaeda had been considered as an organization that financially aids the terrorists some years before by the United States, the administration of Obama accepted a $200, 000 grant to a group belonging to Sudan having ties with Al-Qaeda. Moreover, the prior administration enabled the taxpayer money to move to the group was acknowledged by the agency official, and it happened after its title or the designation was found out. Sam Westrop of the Middle East Forum revealed the grant of 2014 given to the Islamic Relief Agency by the U.S. Agency for International Development. He wrote in an article, “More stunningly, government officials specifically authorized the release of at least $115,000 of this grant even after learning that it was a designated terror organization.” Though the administration of Trump emphasized that all this happened in the years of Obama, USAID has since went through its policies.
In a statement to Fox News on Friday, the State Department spokeswoman, Heather Nauert said that as this happened under the administration of Obama, the present Secretary of the State, USAID administrator, and the Secretary of Treasury had null contribution in the pronouncements related to this grant or succeeding authorization. A timeline of happenings or the events was provided by the official who, along with the U.S. Agency for International Development, backed up the accounts of National Review in an email sent to the Fox News.
In the year 2004, the Islamic Relief Agency in Khartoum was labeled as an organization who financially aids the terrorists by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control due to the connection with Usama bin Laden. After ten years, in 2014 March, $723, 405 was awarded by USAID to a charity known as World Vision Inc. From this money, $200, 000 was being sent to the Islamic Relief Agency. According to the official, this money was sent in order to provide help to the humanity that included water, food, hygiene services, sanitation for the people who were displaced due to the war going on in Sudan. Soon the setting off of alarms occurred by the grant to ISRA. The official said, in November 2014, that the USAID came to know that it’s possible for ISRA to be on the Treasury Department’s Blocked Persons and Specially Designated Nationals list.
