Europe Roars Back With Sweep of Foursomes to Take 5-3 Ryder Cup Lead

Just a couple of hours can make a huge difference. When in the morning football session, the USA dominated the holes and got the advantage of 3-1; just after it the European team got the afternoon foursomes and won the four matches by taking a lead of 5-3. The European team won all the four matches in the foursome session and this is for the first time in the history of Ryder Cup. Each match ended with an amazing victory and everyone one was amazed and surprised at this big success.

In the morning session, the captain of American team Jim Furyk opted to get two out of the three winning-Johnson and Fowler and Thomas and Spieth. In the afternoon, subbing out Tony Finau and Brooks Koepka, the team had come back to beat John Rahm and Justin Rose. Tiger Woods and Patrick Reed were benched by Furyk. The most and the highly controversial decision which the American team had to made that afternoon was to make the pair of DeChambeu and Mickelson. DeChambeau is the one who was making the Ryder Cup Debut while Mickelson is supposed to be an American but in the worst form and his bust playing seems to be better only for fourball rather than for the foursomes.

Moreover, it seemed like an old choice to pair him with an unpredictable rookie in his first Ryder Cup appearance.  Due to this pairing, they lost of the first nine holes and after Mickelson had found the water while lying with an iron par-5 3rd tee. While this pairing of DeChambeau and Mickelson was something to forget and it wouldn’t be something new or surprising if both of them neither played until the singles which are held to be this Sunday. While the temperature was cool throughout and it was a condition which favored the Europeans.

The four American teams had won a combined 3 out on 36 in the front nine while the European team had the reach of 18. The minimum loss faced by the American team was at the down 2 and the team got 1 down point closer at the back nine. Stenson and Rose also had improved by 5-2 at the Ryder can and rose has given an impressive response as he had suffered from a biting defeat in the game at the morning session.
